Performing Arts (Dance) BTEC Level 3 Foundation Diploma/Extended Diploma at Exeter College
If your aims and ambitions are to pursue a career in the dance industry such as a teacher, performer or choreographer, then this is the ideal course for you. The full course is two years of study and is equivalent to three A Levels on completion.
This course covers all aspects of Dance and combines Practical and Theory units of study. You will have the opportunity to develop your skills in a range of technical dance styles including Contemporary, Ballet, Urban and Jazz. In all of these styles you will explore and develop technique, choreography and build your skills as a performer through regular performance events and shows.
You will gain knowledge of professional dance pieces and dance artists through research and analysis, be introduced to Performing Arts Business, develop your self-assessment and target setting through regular evaluation.

Choreographic Principles, Developing Contemporary Dance, Developing Classical Ballet Technique, Jazz Dance, Tap, Performing Arts Business.
Choreographing Dances, Applying Contemporary Dance Technique, Applying Classical Ballet Technique, Jazz/Urban Dance, Healthy Performer, Site Specific and Special Subject Investigation.
You will need five GCSE’s at Grade C or above (including English and Maths). This course is suitable for those that have completed a Level 2 course in Performing Arts, GCSE, BTEC Dance or have other dance experience.
Assessment is on-going throughout the course and will involve: Practical assessment of choreography, rehearsal and performance, documented research, presentations, written evaluations, log book entry’s and participation in workshops.
There is an opportunity for internal progression on to Exeter College's Foundation Degree in Acting and Theatre. On completion of this course you could study dance at degree level at university or apply to a dance conservatoire.
