Professional Cookery Level 2 Diploma & Food & Beverage Service Certificate at Somerset College
This course is designed for anyone wishing to become a member of a professional team in a leading establishment or to pursue a freelance career. Your skills as a chef will improve and you will learn the skills required to work front-of-house.
You will develop skills in one or more of the operational areas within the industry including:
- Food production
- Food and drink service
- Customer care
You will be working in a team within a busy kitchen and restaurant. The course includes participating in a number of work placements throughout the year and a Food Hygiene qualification.
Applicants are highly recommended to seek work in the industry.
- Level 1 Diploma in Professional Cookery & Certificate in Food and Beverage Service.
- You will also undergo an initial assessment before enrolment and will need to demonstrate genuine enthusiasm for this industry.
The results of your assessment will determine your level of study and ability to achieve this qualification.
Assessment will take place in a realistic working environment. There will be demonstrations, theory sessions, practical and portfolio work. There will be numerous written assignments related to the hospitality industry plus several synoptic practical exams.
You could progress to an Advanced Apprenticeship in Professional Cookery or Hospitality Supervision.
There are numerous opportunities within the industry as a chef or in the hospitality area.
