Media (Photography) BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma at Chelmsford College

Course description

This is a practical, work related course that includes Film, Photography, Visual Effects, a Animation and Motion Graphics. Learners will be shown how to use industry standard equipment including film cameras, SLR cameras, editing software, dark room facilities, 2D animation, Adobe After-Effects, Flash, Photoshop, Illustrator and Premiere Pro. After an introduction into each area learners specialise their studies in either film & television, photography or visual effects and animation. You will also have the chance to enter national and international competitions across all pathways.

Entry requirements

A minimum of 4 GCSEs grade C or above or a pass grade at a relevant Level 2 vocational course.

Assessment

The course is assessed on the basis of both practical work and written accounts of your own work and professional products.

Financial information

You may have to purchase some of your media materials as required i.e. blank SD cards etc. and make a contribution to cover costs for media related trips. Materials approx £35 Visits approx £40 Foreign trip approx £360

Future opportunities

You may progress to Higher Education or employment at trainee level or assistant level and undertake a related NVQ or other occupational qualifications.

      The campus also houses a Learning Centre, Skills Development Centre, Assessment Centre, Tutorial Centre, a Copyshop and Refectory. Situated on the grounds of this campus are Dovedale Nursery and Dovedale Sports Centre.
