Course description

If you want to get your foot on the ladder in the construction industry, then this is the course for you. This will help you develop the skills you need to progress on to further training and a career in construction.

Course content

This course has been designed to provide you with an opportunity to experience and develop a range of skills in a Construction setting. You will explore a range of core units providing you with essential information for all jobs in the Construction industry. You will also learn practical skills associated with a number of trade areas throughout your course.

Entry requirements

2 GCSEs or an Entry Level 3 qualification. You should be able to demonstrate an interest in construction.


You will be assessed through a variety of methods including project work, written assignments and/or practical tasks.

Financial information

A course contribution fee of £50.00 will apply, this contributes towards an external trade-related trip, course textbook and course administration. You will also be required to supply your own safety boots and overalls.

Future opportunities

This course will allow you to progress onto high qualifications within the sector.

A job in the Construction industry along your chosen preferred area of construction. Students generally progress onto the Level 2 Diploma in Construction, however direct entry to full time employment or a construction apprenticeship are also possible careers.
