Product Design A Level at Hammersmith Academy

Course description

The Product Design course has been designed to encourage students to take a broad view of design and technology. This qualification emphasises two key factors: creativity and sustainability. There are two pathways offered – Resistant Materials Technology and Graphic Products, with each having its own specific content.

Good design is vital to our world and economy and it is important that the next generation of designers are enthused with a passion for designing their futures.

All students will be encouraged to explore ideas of originality and value, to question, challenge and to envisage what could be. Students will develop a range of skills and outcomes at AS Level which demonstrate their creativity and apply these to a design and create project at A2 Level.

The subject is taught in state-of-the-art multi material workshops and design studios complete with industry standard facilities.

Entry requirements

Eight or more GCSE’s Grades A*–C including a minimum grade B in Resistant Materials, Graphics or equivalent.
