A Level Sociology at The King's Academy

Course description

A level Sociology offers students the opportunity to develop the essential knowledge and understanding of central aspects of sociological thought and methods.
It is designed to encourage students to demonstrate the application of a range of skills and consider the integration of sociological themes: socialisation, culture and identity and social differentiation, power and stratification. The specification also lays an appropriate foundation study of Sociology and related subjects in higher education.

The courses based upon two main units. One unit looks at Families and Households discussing matters such as changing patterns of marriage, divorce and household structures and the second unit investigates Education and Research Methods, looking at the role and purpose of education, gender inequalities and relationships in schools.

  • Unit 4 - Crime and Deviance.

  • Entry requirements

    At least a grade B at English GCSE and a grade C in Maths GCSE
