Travel and Tourism Diploma/Extended Diploma Level 3 at Lowestoft College

Course description

These courses are for anyone interested in a career in the Travel and Tourism industry. They are vocational qualifications designed to offer you a choice of routes into further and higher education and employment.

Course content

Year one Diploma units may include:

  • Worldwide Travel and Tourism Destinations
  • Adventure Tourism
  • Overseas Reps
  • Tour Guiding
  • England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales tourism
  • Tutorials

Year two Extended Diploma units include:

  •  Arranging Business Travel
  • Overseas Reps
  • Cruising
  • Developing People
  • Tutorials
  • Developing an Entertainment Programme
  • Promotions and Sales

Entry requirements

Five subjects at GCSE (to include grade C English language), a positive tutor statement and successful completion of an entry test. 
Entry to the Extended Diploma is only possible upon achievement of the Diploma.

The courses are assessed by a range of methods including:

  • Case studies
  • Role plays
  • Online assessments
  • Portfolio of work

Future opportunities

Upon completion of the Diploma you may wish to continue to study with the Extended Diploma and following the Extended Diploma you may decide to study for a degree. Alternatively, successful completion of both courses can also lead to a career within the travel and tourism industry.

This course leads to a broad range of career opportunities in a number of settings including: Transport Operators, Tour Operators, Airports, Travel Agencies, Business Travel Agencies, Theme Parks, Ferry Services, Tourist Information Centres, Hotels and Call Centres.
