Course description

This Foundation Level course is for those interested in a sport or fitness related career, or keen to progress into a coaching environment and develop new skills.

The course is structured with a combination of taught classroom lessons and practical opportunities.

Course content

The course has a high practical element. There are a number of programmes to choose from as your main course of study:

  • Being Organised
  • Working with Others
  • Training for Fitness
  • Playing Sport
  • Coaching Skills in Sport
  • Assisting in a Sports Activity

You will also have access to the college’s Sport Academies.

You will also study functional skills in English, Maths and IT as part of the course. These are exam based.

Please note: If you have not achieved a Grade 4 or above in GCSE English and/or Maths you will be required to continue studying these alongside your college course.

You will need to purchase a sport kit for the Practical Sport element of the course.

Standard Level 1 entry requirements apply.

Future opportunities

On successful completion of this course and to a good standard, it can be used as a stepping stone to a vocational area of your choice, whether it is a Level 2 course at College or directly into employment.
