Art & Design Diploma Level 2 at Bexhill College

Course description

The Art & Design Level 2 Diploma is an opportunity for students who wish to study a broad based course leading to a specialism in this field. It is a practical course supported by written research into related historical and contemporary Art and Design movements and practice. It includes trips to local and national galleries as well as utilising opportunities to exhibit their work. Students will be supported to develop their Art and Design skills to the Level 2 body of qualifications to progress onto a Level 3 programme. It is an ideal course for those aiming to progress onto the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Art and Design. 

Course content

Students study 7 Units over one year. There is one compulsory unit which explores the work of artists and designers along with 6 further units including 2D, 3D, photography, graphics, textiles and fine art work.
 

Entry requirements

At Least 2 GCSEs Graded 4-9 Or A*-C, English GCSE At Least Grade D/3 And Be Able To Demonstrate A Keen Interest In Art And Design Either Through Previous Study Or Independent Work Evidenced By A Portfolio.

Assessment

All units comprise of taught and independently guided practical and written assignments which focus upon the different skills needed to develop work within specific practical areas. All 7 units must be completed to achieve the full qualification.
 

Financial information

You will be advised to have the necessary basic materials and equipment such as pencils, pens, paint brushes, sketchbooks and a portfolio case. Other costs will be for some specialist materials for personal projects and trips such as visits to galleries and museums.
 

Future opportunities

The course will prepare you for further study at Level 3. There are a wealth of diverse careers in the Creative Industries which include practical fine art and design making, to illustration, interior design, architecture, art direction, film, television, animation, teaching, gallery administration and curating.
