Course description

The Level 3 full-time Motorcycle Maintenance & Repair course is designed for learners wishing to study the identification and rectification of complex motorcycle faults. Included in the programme are lessons to further develop Functional Skills and participate in an industry based work placement.

* Chassis Systems
* Transmission and Driveline
* Electrical Systems
* Health & Safety
* Job Roles
* Materials
* Functions Skills in English and Maths

Entry requirements

4 GCSEs at A*-C (new grade 9-4) including English and Maths
OR
4 GCSEs at A*-C (new grade 9-4)
AND
Level 2 Functional Skills in either English or Maths, and
Grade D (new grade 3) or Level 1 Functional Skills in the other

5 GCSEs at A*-C (or new grade 9-4) including English or Maths
AND
Level 2 Motorcycle qualification or equivalent and Level 2 in English and Maths

Assessment

This is a full-time course run for one academic year.

This is part of a full-time study programme. It may be available as a standalone fee paying course that is not part of a full-time study programme subject to sufficient interest. For further information call the Course Information Team on 01924 789111.

Financial information

Tuition and certification are free if you are aged 16-18 years old. Related additional costs may include materials, equipment, visits, residentials etc which are payable by all students.
Any student entered/registered with an Awarding Body who has been given free entry and then withdraws or is withdrawn by a tutor will incur the certification fee associated with the course. Any resit examination will incur a cost.

      The Castleford Campus (previously known as the skillsXchange) houses the College’s provision in Construction, Motor Vehicle, Engineering, Hair and Beauty, IT and some Care and replaces the training which was previously offered at the College’s Whitwood Campus.

      Located at Junction 32 of the M62 between Castleford and Pontefract, the site is well known for Xscape, the indoor ski slope whose building houses a 14-screen cinema, bowling alley, climbing wall, sports facilities and restaurants. The Campus is situated directly next to the Asda in Glasshoughton.


      A learning resource centre, equipped with the very latest in technology, is a superb place for individual study, or to relax and use the internet. The Centre overlooks the large external courtyard, where students can mix, mingle and chill.

      In state-of-the-art hair and beauty salons, including a nail bar, we are training the next generation of hairdressers and beauticians. These professional salons offer live training environments to our students, with treatments for both men and women available at affordable prices. There are also industry standard facilities for the study of construction and engineering, motor vehicle and electrical courses.
