Supporting Teaching and Learning - Advanced Apprenticeship at Hillingdon Training Ltd
This course offers the Advanced Apprenticeship in Supporting Teaching and Learning. You will gather evidence for the Level 3, complete functional/key skills in Communication, Number and ICT as well as knowledge studies. Evidence will be gathered in the workplace. You will be trained both on and off the job. You will further develop skills for working with children including providing healthy, safe and secure environments, supporting teachers and promoting learning activities. This apprenticeship is for people who work with children - up to 19-year-olds - in settings or services whose main purpose is teaching, e.g. primary, secondary or special schools. Workers in this area make sure children are looked after, well supported and well taught. They also help children develop social and practical skills. This apprenticeship gives people a fulfilling opportunity to work with children and young people while also gaining an understanding into the hows and whys of their development. Equally, it ensures candidates put teaching theory into practice. As an apprentice, the exact nature of your job role will depend on your employer. The Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship is for those who work on their own initiative, planning and organising their own work and/or supervising others; for example, a Leaning Support Assistant. After successful completion of this apprenticeship there is good scope for progression. You may move up through levels of work; for example into full teacher training. There are also opportunities to undertake further training or assessment.
Level 3 Diploma in Support Work in Schools; functional/key skills in Number, Communication and ICT; Employment Rights and Responsibilities; Paediatric First Aid Certificate; enhancement courses and activities, e.g. Health and Safety, Equality and Diversity.
Level 2 in Supporting Teaching and Learning preferable. Experience of working in an educational environment.
The course is assessed mainly in the work place, but also off the job.
The course is fully funded for 16-18 year olds.
The course offers you a specialist work-based qualification to support a career related to teaching or to progress on to studying a Level 4 or HND in a related subject. With further training, you could continue to develop your career in teaching. The course is work-based, which means that you can earn and learn at the same time whilst developing the skills, understanding and knowledge that many employers in all areas of education are looking for.
