Biology GCSE at Tomlinscote School and Sixth Form College

Course description

Biology looks at nutrition in humans, plants, evolution, transfer of energy and nutrients. This course will encourage students to: develop their interest and enthusiasm for science, develop a critical approach to scientific evidence and methods, acquire and apply skills, knowledge and understanding of how science works and its essential role in society, acquire scientific skills, knowledge and understanding necessary for progression to further learning.

Future opportunities

You could take this course to prepare for advanced level courses such as an A/AS Level in Science and specialise further in Biology or you may need to strengthen your grades by completing a foundation or intermediate vocational qualification. With further training, you could go into a job related to science and biology such as an Science Teacher, Marine Biologist or Doctor. You could also go straight into employment and do further training or part time study with the support of your employer.
