Drama and Theatre Studies A Level at Mulberry School for Girls

Course description

Having an A level in Drama and Theatre Studies will benefit you in all areas of work where communication is key. Professions such as marketing law, advertising, medicine (doctor), teaching, social work, therapist, retail industry, hospitality & catering and media. The course is both practical and academic and it develops excellent teamwork, analytical a nd communication skills.

Course content

The AS Level is divided into two units

Unit 1 - Exploration of Theatre and Drama (40%) This unit introduces you to the content of 2 plays written for the theatre. You will learn to analyse plays in a variety of ways so that you become familiar with the way written plays can be interpreted for realisation in performance . You will also see a live theatre performance.

Unit 2 - Text in Performance 1 (60%) In this unit you will perform a role in a performance of a play. You will also perform a monologue or duologue. Your written work will be in the form of concept notes of your performances.
