Photography AS/A2 Level at Chichester High Schools Sixth Form

Course description

Photography Component 1

A personal themed component explored through reference to relevant photographers leading to a final piece, created by the student with support from their teachers.

Photography Component 2

This includes a 15 hour supervised test period where a final piece is completed after the developmental work undertaken by students in the SpringTerm. One question from the exam paper is explored by the students in their own personal way. The final submission includes the preparatory sketchbooks made in lesson time and the final piece made over the 15 hrs.

Entry requirements

5 GCSEs at grade C or above.GCSE Photography is not a compulsory requirement but is preferred.


You will be assessed on two internally assessed components which will be moderated byAQA:

Component 1: Personal investigation – no time limit (60% ofA-level)

Component 2: Response to an externally set assignment – preparatory period + 15 hours supervised time (40% of A-level)

A01 Develop ideas through sustained and focused investigations

A02 Explore and select appropriate resources, reviewing and refining ideas as work develops

A03 Record ideas,observations and insights relevant to intentions, reflecting critically on work and progress

A04 Present a personal and meaningful response that realises intentions
