Physical Education at The Frances Bardsley School for Girls

Course description

There are 3 units in the AS Level with an additional 3 at A Level. This subject is a multi-disciplinary study of Human Movement, Performance and Behaviour, in relation to Play, Physical Education, Sport and Recreation. The theoretical studies include: ? Anatomy ? Physiology ? Psychology ? Acquisition of Skill ? Historical and Contemporary Issues ? Exercise Physiology.

Entry requirements

Pathway 1: For 4 AS Levels & General Studies ? 6 or more A*-C at GCSE with at least a grade B in the 4 subjects chosen to study. ? Pathway 2: For 3 AS Levels & General Studies ? 6 A*-C at GCSE with at least a grade B in the 3 subjects chosen to study

Future opportunities

You could take this course with other advanced level courses such as Science to prepare for higher education in areas of Sport Studies, Recreation, Exercise and Science or more general higher education courses. With further training you could go into a job related to Physical Education such as a Physiotherapist, Teacher, Exercise or Fitness Trainer. The course will also help you develop the skills, understanding and knowledge that many employers across lots of industries are looking for, especially in the sporting sectors.
