Music - Level 3 Extended Diploma at Blackpool and The Fylde College

Course description

Our highly vocational and practical courses are designed to help aspiring musicians and vocalists develop their skills as performers, sound engineers, songwriters and producers within the contemporary music industry. The programme is designed to develop your entrepreneurial skills so you can enter this highly competitive industry as a working professional with all the skills required to succeed.

Experienced tutors with a wealth of industry knowledge will help you to develop a range of skills in performance, production, recording and composing. Using your instrumental or vocal ability, you will create music both live and recorded and participate in projects with musicians and others in the creative industries so that you can fully appreciate the scope of the opportunities available to you. Great facilities, including sound-proofed rehearsal rooms, editing suites, recording studios and industry standard software, means you’ll have all that you need to practise and prepare music to the highest professional standards laying the foundations for future business success.

Course content

You will be working on practical assignments where you will be producing project work, with a wide variety of techniques. In addition you will be given the opportunity to investigate experimental approaches to your work, combining a wide range of techniques. You will be expected to research, plan, explore, develop, produce and then evaluate your work. 

Assessment

The course consists of 17 subject.  Grades attainable range through Pass, Merit, Distinction and Distinction* and hold the same value as C-A* at A level. The qualification you will receive from this course is equivalent to three A levels.
