Beauty Therapy Level 2 BTEC Diploma at Suffolk One
Beauty Therapy is the creative study of the various treatments provided in this exciting industry. You will get the chance to understand the health and wellbeing benefits of the different treatments, and to gain the skills to administer these in our purpose-built suite of rooms.
The BTEC First in Beauty Therapy is intended to give you the opportunity to gain a preparation for work qualification, based on the National Occupational Standards in beauty therapy. You will have the opportunity to achieve a nationally-recognised Level 2 qualification that is supported by Habia, the Standards Setting Body for the hair and beauty sector.
The BTEC First Diploma is a one year course consisting of twelve units. Studying this course gives you the opportunity to develop practical capability in essential Level 2 beauty therapy skills, including:
Providing facial skincare
Applying make-up - eye colour techniques, eyelashes, blusher and concealer technique
Providing manicure and pedicure treatments
It will provide you with the knowledge, understanding and skills relating to important areas of study in beauty therapy, including health and safety, client care and communication and promoting products and services.
5 GCSE's A* - E to include GCSE Maths or English at grade D.
You will be assessed through one assessment per unit or a combination of smaller assessments that lead to a final grade of Distinction, Merit and Pass. The final grade is equivalent to four GCSE's.
This course is designed to give you a good mix of understanding and opportunity to apply new skills in a salon environment. You will have the opportunity to study appropriate units that cover the principle parts of the Beauty Therapy sector. Acquiring these skills will allow you to enter the workplace, or continue within education on an appropriate Level 3 course.
