Media Studies GCSE at Bradford College
The media is everywhere in the living world and, every day, we experience it in many forms. It could be waking up to the sound of the radio, reading a newspaper, passing posters on the street or simply watching a film on the television.
This course will encourage you to consider the media and the products it produces, the audience who consume it and the regulators who oversee it.
You will study an exciting range of Modules that ask critical questions about the media industry and offer the opportunity to develop a wide range of transferable skills.
The course is 60% coursework, where you will write comparative essays on set topics /texts; pre-production planning assignment, eg storyboarding and script writing; production - documentary or advertisement.
The other 40% is written examination on two set topics, which takes place in the second half of the year. This will involve written and creative design tasks in response to previously unseen material.
16-19 year olds: One GCSE at Grade C or above and two GCSEs at a minimum of a Grade D, including at least a Grade D in English Language and /or Literature.
Mature students will be considered according to their written skills, life experience and media /film /design /IT interests.
