Introduction to Health and Social Care, Children and Young People's Settings Level 1 at Peterborough Regional College

Course description

This course is for you if you wish to develop basic skills in caring for children or preparing you to work in health and social care.

Course content

On the course you will study the following areas: • Human growth and development • Food and nutrition • Care of children and young adults • Work experience will take place one day a week throughout the year

Entry requirements

You will need an interest in children, a willingness to work hard and a minimum of Entry 3 English.


The course is assessed by continuous coursework through the year.

Financial information

You will need to buy art and craft materials when required.


Future opportunities

If you have achieved the course and Level 1 Functional Skills in English and maths and are suitable to work in childcare or health and social care then you can study at level 2 in either of these subjects.

You will be required to attend a Welcome Event – details will be provided upon application.
