Italian - GCSE *Fees payable* at Brentwood School

Course description

The Italian language is renowned for its fluency and style; Italians express themselves with a passion and pride that is evident in their everyday living. Furthermore, Italian culture stems from one of the greatest civilisations the world has ever known.

The language has such musical expression: Cecilia Bartoli, Verdi, Pavarotti, Puccini - not to mention style, design and elegance from the likes of Giorgio Armani, Gucci, Versace, Ferrari, Lamborghini and, of course, Leonardo da Vinci. Try reading that list of Italian luminaries and the temptation will be to read it out loud! Italian tastes good too, with olio extra vergine, fettuccini, risotto, prosecco and barolo to name a few delicacies.

At Brentwood, we teach the fundamentals of language via grammar and vocabulary - but we do more than that. We open up our pupils to the influences of Italian culture throughout the world.

Course content

We offer a two-year GCSE Italian course in the Sixth Form. There are four skills involved: listening, reading, writing and speaking.
