German A-Level at Diss High School
The AS course includes the study of: Media; Popular Culture; Health Living; and Family Relationships. It is assessed through two examinations (Paper 1 is Speaking; Paper 2 is Listening, Reading and Writing).
The A2 topics are: The Environment; Multicultural Society; Contemporary Social Issues; two cultural topics (e.g. studying the work of an author or director, a period in history or geographical region). There will be two exams (Paper 3 is Speaking; Paper 4 is Listening, Reading and Writing).
Students will learn how to collect, analyse and present information in the target language. Candidates will be trained to communicate in the language, using all the necessary skills.
The subject will taught by two different teachers, each concentrating on particular areas of the syllabus.
Students will be expected to participate freely in lessons and also be prepared to learn vocabulary regularly and research in their own time. Independent study is essential.
You are required to have at least five Cs at GCSE including Maths and English Language at Grade C.
Grade B in German
Successful candidates will improve their career prospects within Europe, as well as obtaining a useful qualification for university entrance to a wide range of degree courses.
