Engineering and Technology (Mechanical) Level 2 VRQ Diploma at Stafford College

Course description

This course is aimed at people who want to work in the Mechanical Engineering.  The programme will provide the basic knowledge and understanding for those wishing to progress within the Mechanical Engineering Sector.

 

The qualification provides a grounding in basic skills, knowledge and understanding of common engineering practices, along with a grasp of safe working practices which are essential for anyone seeking to build a career in any type of engineering.

 

The focus is on mechanical practical skills and knowledge which ensure that you gain practical experience in our workshop and have some expectation of some of the situations that you could face in a job role within the engineering sector.

 

This qualification does not require workplace evidence.

Course content

The course builds technical knowledge and practical skills. 

 

The course consists of:

 

VRQ Level 2 Certificate in Engineering and Technology (Electrical) Units:

  • Engineering Environment Awareness
  • Engineering Techniques
  • Engineering Principles
  • Turning & Milling Machining Techniques and Technology

         

 Functional Skills – Maths and English Level 2.

 

English & Maths

We are committed to helping students improve their skills in English and Maths. Students on a full-time course at College who missed out on GCSE qualifications at Grades A-C in these subjects at school will attend additional classes and receive support to enhance their grades.  Depending on individual ability, students will work towards GCSE, City & Guilds or Functional Skills Awards to ensure that they have the qualifications needed to progress to University or employment.

Entry requirements

Two GCSEs at Grade C in maths, English Language or a minimum level 1 in literacy and numeracy.

Assessment

One online test and practical assessments.
