Law - AS/A2 Level at Rochdale Sixth Form College
For those who are hoping to progress into the legal profession, Law is an excellent choice as it will allow an insight into the areas encountered during a legal career. There is a misconception that Law only leads to a career as a Solicitor or Barrister. In fact, Law is seen as a valuable asset by many employers. The particular skills you have gained in your studies will make you especially suited to certain careers. There is a range available in addition to the legal profession, such as working for Customs and Excise, European Institutions, the Home Office, the Immigration Service, the Police or even becoming a Journalist!
Skills gained through studying Law are many, but in particular, the ability to form and articulate opinion, analyse source materials and be able to explain legal principle through case law.

To study A-Levels at RSFC you must have achieved a minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade A* - C, covering at least four different subject areas. Two of the 5 A* - C grades must include GCSE Maths and English Language. A good school reference, attendance and behaviour record are also required as is a positive college interview.
If you are between 16 and 19 years old and think that you might struggle with the costs of full-time education you may apply for a bursary. The students most in need will be eligible to receive a bursary of £1,200 a year. This group includes:
• Disabled young people in receipt of both Employment Support Allowance and Disability Living Allowance
• Young people in care• Care leavers
• Young people in receipt of income support
Other students facing genuine financial difficulties can apply for the Discretionary Bursary Fund (DBF).The DBF can support students with travel costs, equipment, books and other course-related costs.
