Latin *FEES PAYABLE* at New Hall School
The course aims to develop the candidate’s ability to read sophisticated Latin fluently, with understanding and critical appreciation. Candidates in this subject should already have studied Latin to GCSE or equivalent.
If you have enjoyed the study of Latin at GCSE, you will find that studying the subject at A Level will extend the range of skills you have already acquired. These include the comprehension and appreciation of set texts, as well as the setting of the literature in its wider social, cultural and historical context. Studying Latin will allow you to read, appreciate and make a personal response to some of the world’s greatest literature in the original language. You will also extend your linguistic knowledge to enable you to attempt unprepared translation of passages set from the works of Roman authors.
At least a grade B in GCSE Latin and English/English Literature.
