Outdoor Programmes (Sport) - Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship at East Surrey College

Course description

This qualification and has been developed in partnership with industry experts in the outdoors to provide you with an accredited qualification in the area of outdoor programmes in the context of outdoor recreation.

Course content

Units/topics covered:
 
 Contribute to improving personal and organisational performance
 Organise people and resources for outdoor programmes
 Ensure the health, safety, welfare and security of customers and staff
 Promote the conservation of the environment
 Establish and maintain effective working relationships in the outdoors
 Allocate and monitor the progress and quality of work in own area of        responsibility
 Design outdoor recreation programmes
 Facilitate recreation in the outdoors
 Provide leadership in own area of responsibility
 Organise and supervise travel
 Understand how to safeguard the well-being of children and young people
 Enable disabled people to take part in activities
 Facilitate adventurous experiences

 

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for an Apprenticeship but you must be in paid work for a minimum of 30 hours per week. It is essential you have the right mind-set for working full time and studying at the same time. Having a can-do attitude, being flexible and reliable are also important. You must also be able to communicate effectively with others.

Assessment

Practical on-the-job training with knowledge based assignments. End of unit tests for Maths and English Functional Skills.

Financial information

If you are under 19 on 31/08/2014, tuition is free. If you are 19 or over please call our Employer Services team for advice and guidance on funding and eligibility.

Future opportunities

This course can lead to a career as an Outdoor Instructor, Activity Leader, Climbing Wall Instructor or Activity Supervisor.
