Caring for Children Introductory Diploma at Derby College
This qualification encourages an understanding of the knowledge and skills needed to care for young children. Covering everything from craft activities to children’s growth and development, it prepares you for your next step – either in training or moving towards a childcare career.

You will also work towards a maths and English qualification with the support of dedicated maths and English tutors.
In addition, you will attend weekly work experience within an employment environment linked to your interests.
All applicants are assessed on an individual basis and an interview is essential. You will need a profile of five GCSEs at grade E, including English, along with evidence of good attendance, punctuality, self-motivation and a positive attitude to study.
You also need two references and to complete an Early Years taster day successfully.
You need pen, paper and a folder.
