Course description

This course provides a good introduction to the English legal system and a more detailed consideration of aspects of law such as negligence, criminal law, contract and consumer law.

Course content

The BTEC in Applied Law is not usually available in other local schools or colleges. This course provides a good introduction to the English legal system and a more detailed consideration of aspects of law such as negligence, criminal law, contract and consumer law.

A specialist member of staff delivers the classes and makes use of a wide range of resources including the internet.

During the course students will be given the opportunity to develop transferable skills such as powers of analysis, logical thought and clear communication.

Entry requirements

To study the Level 3 BTEC Subsidiary Diploma, you must have first completed the Level 3 BTEC Certificate.

4 GCSEs at grade C or above, including English Language (B grade preferred).

Assessment

Assessment is completely course work based, involving written work, research and individual and group presentations.

 

Future opportunities

You could move on to university or professional law courses (we do the CILEx courses at Guildford College) or employment in the legal sector or related subjects or careers.
