Applied Business AS A2 at The Rushden Community College
You will study three different units of work in Year 12. These are: Unit 1 - Creating a marketing proposal. For this unit you will explore the marketing process of a business and you will then produce a marketing proposal to launch a new product or service of your choice (coursework). Unit 2 - Recruitment in the workplace. In this unit you will produce a report showing how you would set about recruiting and selecting an individial for a particular job role. You will also produce an induction training and motivational programme for the successful applicant (coursework). Unit 3 - Understanding the business environment. This unit explores the internal and external factors involved in the decision-making process in a business. The main focus will be on financial decision-making, but there will also be sections that examine social, legal, environmental and technological issues (examination).
In Year 13 you will study an additional three units for the A2 single award and six units for the A2 double award. Topics include: Strategic Decision Making, a Business Plan for the Entrepreneur, Managerial and Supervisory Roles, Launching a Business on line, Business Law, Promotion in Action.
Suitable for students obtaining a minimum of 5 GCSE grades C including English and Mathematics.
Each unit of work will be assessed in one of the following ways: Internally set and assessed coursework (portfolio) - two thirds. External examination - one third.
The course is well recognised at Higher Education and in the workplace.
