Civil Engineering Advanced Apprenticeship Level 3 at Exeter College

Course description

This apprenticeship programme last for two years and is for anyone that wants to develop a career within the civil engineering sector. This may involve working for a large construction company, a local council or even one of the large water authorities in a junior civil engineering role.

Course content

You will start with an introduction to construction and civil engineering covering a wide range of units including Health and Safety, Civil Engineering Technology, Surveying and Structural Mechanics.

This will provide evidence towards a framework of qualifications which make up the apprenticeship including the Diploma in Civil Engineering.  This will show your competence, knowledge and understanding of business tasks and procedures, and prove you are able to carry out your job to the required standard, as it is assessed purely within the workplace.

Entry requirements

You need GCSEs at Grade C in Maths and English. An interest in the industry is essential and you must be employed as a trainee civil engineer.

Financial information

You will need safety boots, overalls and recommended text books.

Future opportunities

On completion of your apprenticeship you may progress onto study a higher national course in construction. This could then lead you to a full civil engineering degree at university.
