Diploma in Professional Food & Beverage Service Level 2 at West Kent College

Course description

This course gives you additional skills to develop your career in professional catering, e.g. hotels, restaurants and pubs.

Subjects studied include:

• Investigate the catering and hospitality industry
• Legislation
• Menu design
• Food health and safety awareness
• Enhanced food and drink service skills
• Principles of customer service

Functional skills of English and Maths are a key part of this course. You will be assessed by observation of competence, assignments and presentations. Please note that you will be required to purchase equipment and clothing from an external supplier for this course. All course costs will be discussed at interview.

Entry requirements

You will need four GCSEs at Grades D-G/3-1, including a Grade C/4 in either English or maths. Or successful completion of the Level 1 catering course. It is advised you also attend a skills assessment day for your chosen course level. We will also consider you if you have at least three years’ relevant industry experience.

Future opportunities

After you have successfully completed this course you can progress onto a Level 2 in your chosen area of catering and hospitality or an Advanced Apprenticeship.
