Bricklaying Construction Diploma - Level 3 at Vision West Nottinghamshire College

Course description

During this course you will undertake a variety of complex activities to develop job-related skills and knowledge for a professional career in bricklaying. Learn trade tips and techniques from industry experts.

Units will include: masonry techniques, walling, and interpreting working drawings to set out masonry structures.

Course content

You will study a range of units that include the following:

  • Safe working practices
  • Thin joint masonry
  • Masonry cladding
  • Building solid walling
  • Cavity walling and interpreting working drawings to set out masonry structures

Entry requirements

  • Level 2 Diploma in Bricklaying OR
  • A relevant NVQ qualification

You will need to attend an interview with the tutor before being accepted on to the course. You may also need to supply at least one written reference from a teacher or employer (in some cases two) and/or your current school or college report.

Mature students (those aged 21 or over) who do not have the qualifications required for entry may still be eligible, subject to an interview. Relevant experience, a strong portfolio of work and a commitment to the subject you wish to study may be acceptable for certain courses.

Future opportunities

Upon successful completion you will be fully qualified to work in the construction sector as a bricklayer.
