Plumbing and Heating Intermediate Apprenticeship at Darlington College

Course description

This Apprenticeship is a qualification for anyone wanting to progress as a Plumber of Heating Engineer in residential properties.

Increasingly time served trades men/ women are being sought by contractors to act as site managers, bringing their own expertise to bear on the successful completion of projects which your Apprenticeship will stand you in good stead for.

Course content

Key principles covered will include:

  • Understand and carry out safe working practices in building services engineering
  • Understand and apply domestic hot water system installation and maintenance
  • Understand and apply domestic above ground drainage system installation and maintenance techniques
  • Install and maintain domestic plumbing and heating systems

Entry requirements

You will need 4 GCSEs at grade D-E including maths and English. You must be employed for a minimum of 30 hours per week in plumbing, heating or a related role.

You will be required to attend an interview at the college for all courses and Apprenticeships and we will request a school or college report.

Future opportunities

Upon completion you can progress onto the Level 3 Plumbing and Heating Apprenticeship.
