Electrical Installation Diploma Level 3 at West Suffolk College

Course description

This course provides the level three technical and knowledge units for people seeking a career in the electrotechnical industry as an electrician.

This 34 week programme also includes practical work in our workshops using industry standard equipment. Successful completion of this course will give you a recognised qualification that can help towards obtaining an apprenticeship.

 

Course content

This diploma has seven mandatory units:

• Health and Safety in the Building Services Industry

• Understand the Principles of and Requirements of Environmental Tech Systems

• Principles of Electrical Science

• Fault Diagnosis and Rectification

• Inspection, Testing and Commissioning

• Electrical Systems Design

• Career Awareness

Any student aged 16 to 19 who does not hold a GCSE A* to C (9 to 4 on the new grading structure) or equivalent qualifications in Maths and English by age 16 will need to continue to study these subjects in each academic year.

 

Entry requirements

Successful completion of Electrotechnical Craft Level 2 along with a suitable reference from the course director. GCSE Maths and English are required at grades A*-C. A mandatory interview is also required.
