Beauty Therapy Specialist Techniques Diploma Level 2 at St Helens College
This course is suitable for those who want to establish the skills and knowledge required to launch a career as an employed and/or self-employed beautician/beauty specialist.
Developing your skills on paying clients, you will learn how to provide eyelash and eyebrow treatments, hair removal using waxing techniques, makeup application, basic manicures and pedicures and facial skincare.
You will also have the opportunity to attend The Professional Beauty North Exhibition, meet guest speakers and benefit from professional demonstrations.
During this course, you will cover the following units:
- Health and safety practice in the salon
- Client care and communication in beauty related industries
- Eyelash and brow treatments
- Hair removal using waxing techniques
- Makeup application
- Manicure, pedicure and nail art treatments
- Facial skincare
- Salon reception duties
- Anatomy and physiology
- Create an image based on a theme within the hair and beauty sector
You should have four GCSEs at grade D or above, including English and maths.
English and maths forms an important part of your future, ensuring you achieve the best success in your chosen career. But don't worry, if you haven't got the desired grades, we will still have a course available for you.
You will be assessed throughout the course by a combination of practical assessments, written assignments, end of module exams and portfolio building.
What are the course fees?
If you are a school leaver, aged 16-18, (under the age of 19 on or before 31st August 2016), you do not pay tuition fees or examination and registration fees and may be eligible for additional support depending on your financial situation.
Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to progress onto one of the following:
- Level 3 Diploma in Beauty Therapy
- Level 3 Diploma in Spa Therapy
- Level 3 Diploma in Nail Technologies
- Level 3 Diploma in Makeup Techniques
Alternatively, you may want to move into employment as a beauty receptionist, make-up consultant, sales representative or become self-employed.
As part of this programme you are required to wear a uniform. There is also a kit required to complete your assessments which can be purchased from a recommended supplier. You may be eligible for financial support to cover these costs.
