BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Travel and Tourism at Burton and South Derbyshire College

Course description

This course is work-related with students learning through the completion of projects and assignments that are based on real-life workplace situations, activities and demands. The course comprises eighteen units including Investigating the Cruise Sector, Handling Air Passengers, Holiday Representatives and Marketing.

Entry requirements

• Minimum of 5 GCSE’s at grade C or better (of which one subject may be specified at grade C) including either English Language or Maths at GCSE Grade C or above (or equivalent)*; or • Pass at NVQ Level 2 and either English Language or Maths at GCSE Grade C or above (or equivalent); or • Pass at BTEC Diploma and either English Language or Maths at GCSE Grade C or above (or equivalent). The College has the discretion to determine if 4 or 5 GCSE’s will be the entry standards for a Qualification. Please note you will be required to wear a uniform.

Future opportunities

BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Students who are successful on this course can progress onto a Foundation Degree programme..This short course offers a specialist qualification for entering employment in travel and tourism or progressing onto further education such as BTEC Higher Nationals in Travel and Tourism or related degree programmes. You could also go on to study a relevant NVQ vocational qualification, which could be work-based. With further training, you could go into a job related to travel and tourism such as a Travel Agent or a Cabin Crew Assistant. The course provides a work related programme of study so you could go straight into a job as it helps you develop the skills, understanding and knowledge that many employers are looking for, especially in the creative industries.
