English Language and Literature GCSE Level 2 at The College of Haringey, Enfield and North East London
This course is all about developing your ability to express yourself in a variety of speaking and listening activities. You will learn to match your style and response to an audience in a particular setting. You will be able to read accurately and fluently, understand and respond to literature from the English Literary Heritage, and from other cultures and traditions. Writing about literature is an integral part of the course and Shakespeare is also compulsory. You will be taught to analyse and evaluate a wide range of texts, such as novels and poetry. You will be expected to construct arguments in essays using correct grammar and standard English, matching your style to the audience and the purpose.
This course is taught in a classroom using a mixture of group activities, discussions and practical activities.
You will need GCSEs at grade D including English. If you do not have these, you can take a short test at your interview.
You will be assessed by taking an exam set by Edexcel at the end of the year and producing coursework.
You could progress to other courses at the College or go on to employment in a range of careers.
