General Construction Level 2 Diploma at Northumberland College

Course description

This course is for anyone who wants to work in the construction industry specifically areas which involve concreting, drainage and block paving etc.

Course content

You will study how to use various hand tools and cutting equipment, preparing and placing concrete, preparing and laying finishing floor screeds, how to mix various building materials by hand and machine, laying domestic drainage and setting up signage, lighting and guarding when working on site eg. path or road,. Ideal if you would like to further develop both the skills and knowledge to become a general construction operative.

Entry requirements

You should have two GCSEs at Grade D or above in English and Maths, or a relevant Level 1 qualification and have an interest in construction.


Your progress will be assessed by a combination of written assignments, end tests and practical exercises.

Future opportunities

After successful completion of the course you could progress onto a level 3 qualification or into employment in your chosen career path.
