Course description
French is the language offered to pupils at St. Columba’s for study up to GCSE. SCHEME OF ASSESSMENT: Homework - 30 minutes - 1 hour, once weekly at least. (I) Syllabus 3651 - Linear syllabus (coursework component) 1) Foundation and Higher tiers in the four skills of Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing are all weighted equally. 2) The four skills will be equally weighted, tested separately and combined to produce an overall grade A*-G. 3) Higher Tier: A*-D Foundation Tier: C-G There will be an increasing concern for the quality of communication for the achievement of the higher grades. To achieve A*-C, pupils must command the present, past and future tenses to high levels of accuracy. (II) Syllabus 4652 - Modular Syllabus Module 1 Speaking (12.5%) (Year 10) Module 2 Listening (12.5%) and Reading (12.5%) (Year 10) Module 3 Writing (12.5%) (Year 11) Module 4 Listening, Reading, Speaking and Writing (each 12.5%) (Year 11)
