Geography AS/A2 Level at Chichester High Schools Sixth Form

Course description

Human and physical geography are studied with two compulsory subjects of rivers, flood management and population change, along with selection of optional subjects which include cold environments, coastal environments, hot desert environments, food supply issues, energy issues and health issues. There will also be geographic investigative work and fieldwork,which includes a residential trip to Nettlecombe (approx. cost £275) and a day trip to the Jurassic coast.

Students who continue to A2 will step up to topics including plate tectonics and associated hazards,weather and climate and associated hazards, ecosystems: change and challenge, world cities, development and globalisation, contemporary conflicts and challenges. There will be more fieldwork opportunities which may include the option of foreign travel.

AS Unit 1: Physical/Human Geography

AS Unit 2: Research skills and fieldwork

A2 Unit 3: Contemporary Geographical issues

A2 Unit 4: Fieldwork or Geographical issues


Entry requirements

5 GCSEs at grade C or above with a grade B in Geography.
