Entry requirements

Minimum requirements for admission to the Sixth Form:

A grade 5 in Mathematics, with a 6 preferred.
A grade 5 in English Language or English Literature, with a 6 preferred.
Achieving at least 3 other GCSEs at grade 6 or above.

Subject specific requirement:

  • Grade 6 in Spanish

Paper 1 

Written Exam: 2hr 30min 100 marks. 
Listening, reading, writing
Translation into English and the target language.
(50% of total A level)

Paper 2 

Written Exam: 2hr 80 marks. 
Essay and grammar.
Questions on set text and film.
(20% of total A level)

Paper 3

Spoken Exam: 21-23min 60 marks
Discussion of a sub-theme, based on a stimulus card.
Presentation and discussion of an individual research project.
(30% of total A level)

Special Features

To assist in the development of the spoken language we conduct lessons almost exclusively in Spanish and encourage students to get involved with language clubs and lesson support in the lower school.

During year 12 we encourage students to do a work experience placement in either Spain or a Spainish-speaking country.
