Course content

If you wish to work in the exciting world of travel, then you can get off to a flying start with this course!

This course will give you a good introduction to the travel and tourism industry and give you the essential skills you need to progress on to a higher-level programme.

You will learn customer support and marketing, as well as the tourism sector in the UK and beyond, and have the opportunity to progress on to work as cabin crew, event planners, travel consultants, in tourist centres, or in tour guiding, amongst many more.

Entry requirements

To access this course you are required to have:

  • No formal qualifications are required
  • Acceptance on course subject to a curriculum interview


A variety of assessment methods are used including individual and group presentations, case studies, role-plays, question and answer sessions, producing display materials, time constrained assessments, work-based assignments and assessment.

This will allow you to develop skills you currently possess and work on new skills that will help you progress, it will also allow you to build a portfolio of evidence and complete other workpacks that are required for you to gain the qualifications in this programme.

    • The Paget Road campus, in Compton to the west of Wolverhampton, provides courses in art and design, business and management, computing and IT, education and teaching, engineering, English, health and social care, journalism, maths, media, motor vehicle, music technology, performing arts, photography and science.

      Also on offer at the site are Pathways programmes for people without any formal qualifications, ESOL courses for speakers of other languages, and short courses for job seekers.

      The campus is also home to CitySixth – the college's dedicated sixth form centre offering A Levels in a range of subjects - and a Higher Education Centre which offers HNCs, HNDs and Foundation Degrees, and also boasts an Engineering Learning Zone also equipped with industry-standard equipment, modern motor vehicle workshops, new performing and recording studios, and well equipped science labs.
