Accounting AAT Level 2 Certificate at Havering College of Further and Higher Education
The Accounting modules will cover the basic principles of double-entry bookkeeping, the manual recording of day-to-day transactions into the daybooks and ledgers, as well as the balancing-off of accounts and extraction of trial balances. The SAGE module will provide an opportunity for you to see how those operations are carried out using one of the most widely used computer packages in the UK. Basic Costing will provide an introduction to Cost and Management Accounting. Working Effectively in Accounts and Finance looks at some of the administrative aspects of working in an accounts or office environment. Topics covered include scheduling/prioritisation of work, teamwork and office communication.
You will need to be numerate and possess a good standard of written English. All applicants will be required to sit an online English and Maths test to assess their suitability.
The Accounting modules and Basic Costing modules are assessed through 90 minute online examinations. The Computerised Accounting and WEAF are assessed through invigilated online 'time-constrained' assignments.
This qualification is suitable for people wishing to obtain their first accounts or finance-related position. It will also enable people who are self-employed to carry out much of their own bookkeeping. Many students will progress onto the AAT Level 3 Diploma.
