History A-level OUN at Invictus Sixth Form

Course description

This course is great as it provides you with a range of historical topics from different places and times. It will also develop a number of skills that universities and future employers will love, including research, analysis and evaluation.

Course content

Unit 1 - Britain 1900-51, with an enquiry topic on England in the new century (1900-18)

Unit 2 - Making of America 1803-90 (including westward expansion, Native Americans and the Civil War)

Unit 3 - Witchcraze in the 16th and 17th centuries (case studies in England, Germany and the USA)

Unit4 - Coursework based on a topic of your choice (3000-4000 words)

Entry requirements

Specific Entry Requirements for this course ( in addition to at least 5 Grade 5s inc. English and Maths):

GCSE Grade 6 or above in History or English.


80% exam, 20% Coursework.

University for a range of courses, especially History, Politics, Law and Social Sciences. History is highly regarded by employers and leads you into a variety of jobs, including government/civil service, the law, local government, teaching and roles in business.
