What coursework do I have to do?
AS: 1 practical coursework unit based on natural forms 60%. Through the exploration and sampling of a wide range of textiles techniques, presented in sketchbook form and resulting in a practical outcome e.g. Artwear, 3-D sculpture or wall hanging.
A2: 1 critical / personal study unit of 1000 words with a practical outcome 60%. Based on a theme, concept or social statement of your own choosing. You will develop a sketchbook of research work along with a further sketchbook of samples and exploration work, resulting in a practical outcome of your own choosing.
5 GCSEs at grade C or above – one being in Textiles.
What’s in the exam?
AS: 1 practical controlled test (10 hours) 40%. Set by exam board. Exam questions are released by AQA on 1 st February in the examination year and you have 3 ½ monthsto explore and experiment with a variety of textile techniques before the 5 hour exam, where you will complete the final sample.
A2: 1 practical controlled test (15 hours) 40%. Set by exam board. As A2 but you have a 15 hour exam, over 3 days, and this time you will complete an end product in order to answer the question.
