Level 2 OCR Cambridge Technical in Sport at Sussex Cricket Foundation

Course description

The Level 2 Sports Programme is made up of the Cambridge Technical in Sport combined with regular multi-sport activity and work experience. This gives students the chance to combine their academic studies with regular sporting activity in a professional sporting environment and the chance to gain valuable experience in the workplace.

Course content

The mandatory units are (1-8):
• Unit 1 – Physical activity, health & well-being – EXAM (45 mins)
• Unit 2 – Physical preparation and readiness for sport – EXAM (1 hr)
• Unit 3 – Inclusivity, equality & diversity – COURSEWORK
• Unit 4 – Leading sport & physical activity sessions – COURSEWORK
• Unit 5 – Customer service in sport
• Unit 6 – Components of fitness, training for sport
• Unit 7 – Practical sport
• Unit 8 – Assisting sports coaching


Work Experience:
Primary School Placement – to support the delivery of PE & Sport in primary
schools under the guidance of course coordinator.


Sussex Cricket Foundation – to support the delivery of events around the
county including school competitions, community events and schools coaching.


Multi-Sport Activities:
• Squash
• Badminton
• Volleyball
• Cricket
• Strength & Conditioning Training
• Football
• Water Sports

Entry requirements

There are no specific entry requirements for this course though a reasonable level of English and Maths is required. Students can retake GCSE Maths and English on this course if they do not pass them in Yr. 11. 

Assessment

The following units will be assessed by exam and coursework:

• Unit 1 – Physical activity, health & well-being – EXAM (45 mins)
• Unit 2 – Physical preparation and readiness for sport – EXAM (1 hr)
• Unit 3 – Inclusivity, equality & diversity – COURSEWORK
• Unit 4 – Leading sport & physical activity sessions – COURSEWORK

The course is FREE and there is a student bursary fund available.
