Course description

Mathematical Studies Standard Level

Aimed at students who do not anticipate a need for mathematics in their future studies. It involves maths in everyday situations as well as looking at maths as a way of thinking.

Mathematics Standard Level

Aimed at those who expect to need sound mathematical background as they prepare for future studies (in subjects such as Chemistry and Economics)

Course content

A range of topics within algebra, functions, trigonometry, matrices, vectors, statistics and probability, calculus, logic and financial maths.


Assessment is by exam at the end of the course and coursework. In Standard Level the coursework will consist of two investigations and in Maths Studies the coursework involves a project on a subject chosen by a student.
