To prepare for a career in vehicle maintenance and repair.

Course content

• Reducing health and safety risks
• Electrical systems and electronics
• Removing or replacing engine units, auxiliary electrical units, chassis units and transmissions
• Mathematics, Science and IT for vehicle engineering

Entry requirements

  • GCSE grade D or above in Maths and Science and grade E or above in English OR City and Guilds Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Level 1 Certificate (or equivalent)
  • applicants must show a keen interest in and commitment to studying on a motor vehicle programme at an individual interview and provide a satisfactory report from school
  • applicants will also need to attend a Taste of the Action day during June/July and complete an Initial Assessment in Maths and English; which will be undertaken during the Taste of Action day

Assessment

Through a range of assessment techniques which may include coursework and examinations.

FREE to UK/EU under 19s not in employment

Future opportunities

After successful completion of the course you can progress to any IMI Level 3 Vehicle Maintenance and Repair programme at the College or if you gain employment you can start an Apprenticeship.
