 Unit 1 – TEXT 1 Materials, Components and Application (Fibre Types/Yarns/Fabric Manufacture/Smart
Materials/Components/Design Development/Industrial Practices/Design and Market influences/Processes and
Manufacture)
50% of AS, 25% of A Level
2 Hour Written Paper (80 Marks)
 Unit 2 – TEXT 2 Learning Through Designing and Making (Design Portfolio with Manufactured Outcome)
50% of AS, 25% of A Level
Coursework – Approximately 50 Hours (80 Marks)
Year 2:
 Unit 3 – TEXT 3 Design and Manufacture (Fibre Types/Yarns/Fabric Manufacture/Smart
Materials/Components/Design Development/Industrial Practices/Design and Market influences/Processes and
Manufacture)
25% of A Level
2 Hour Written Paper (84 Marks)
You will further develop knowledge and understanding gained in the AS level and also gain new insight in to the
Development of technologies within Design and Industrial Practices.
 Unit 4 TEXT 4 - Design and Making Practice (25% of grade). (Design Portfolio with Manufactured Outcome)
You will submit a single, substantial design and make project. This is split into six sections of marking criteria

Entry requirements

You will need a minimum of five GCSEs at grade C or above.You will need at least a grade C in GCSE Textiles although an A*, A or B grade is preferred.
