Children’s Play, Learning and Development BTEC Level 2 First Certificate at Heaton Manor School

Course description

The course has been designed so that it can be undertaken by candidates entering this vocational area for the first time. Studying child care will be valuable preparation for careers in this sector and progression onto Level 3 programmes and employment or further study.

Course content

The Edexcel Level 2 BTEC First Certificate in Children’s Play, Learning and Development allows successful learners to undertake work in a supervised capacity within an early years environment (0 – 8 years).

Entry requirements

A standard of literacy and numeracy supported by a general education equivalent to four GCSEs at grades D–G.

Future opportunities

This qualification has been designed to allow for flexible progression routes, moving on to a Level 3 child care qualification or further training and/or employment. A wide range of opportunities are available, for example, apprenticeships, A Level Health & Social Care as well as a number of other courses at Level 3.
