Business (Level 2) at Central College Nottingham

Course description

This is a full-time practical, work-related course. You will learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands.

Course content

Subject areas include:

  • Enterprise in the Business World
  • Finance for Business
  • Small Business Planning
  • Promoting a Brand
  • Principles of Marketing
  • Introducing Project Management
  • Functional Skills in English and Maths

English and Maths are an essential part of your studies and will help you succeed on your course. These subjects will help you develop confidence and are the key employability skills that all employers now look for when recruiting.

Entry requirements

One of the following:

  • 4 GCSEs at grades A*-D including English Language and Maths*
  • A relevant Level 1 qualification including GCSE English Language and Maths* at grade A*-D

*If you do not have both GCSE English Language and Maths at A*-D, we may accept one of them at Grade E in addition to your 4 GCSEs at A*-D. Functional Skills may be accepted instead of GCSE English and/or Maths. Functional Skills Level 1 is equivalent to GCSE Grade D and Level 2 to GCSE Grade C.

Adults who are aged 19+ without the necessary qualifications are welcome to apply.

Assessment

You will do scenario-based external assessments and assignments which include presentations, reports and poster presentations and role play.

Future opportunities

You may progress onto Level 3 qualifications; in particular the BTEC Level 3 Diploma / Extended Diploma in Business (a Grade C in English Language and Maths must be achieved).

To support your application we will ask you to bring in a school report.

It is recommended that you have paper, pens, calculator, a recommended reading book and a memory stick for transferring your work from home to college. You will be notified of any course books that may enhance your learning by your tutors. You will be expected to visit businesses as part of your assignment work. You may need to attend college over five days and some evening study may be required.
